On Wed Jan 20th, a good weather window opened up for us to make the next big jump east toward the Exumas and other smaller, more remote Bahamas Islands. We left the marina at 7am with several other boats, crossed around the north end of Bimini and headed east across the Bahama Bank, 75 miles of swimming pool blue water. We reached the end of the bank around sunset and kept sailing past the southern end of the Berry Islands, turning slightly south toward New Providence Island, home of the Bahamas largest city, Nassau. A nearly full moon kept us company with steady winds and moderate seas. It was a great night to sail. We stopped around 5am inside the Nassau channel, just near the cruise ship docks for any of you who have ever been there via cruise ship. After a spectacular sunrise, we kept moving the last three hours of the 28 hr journey, Our destination was Palm Cay Marina, around the southeast end of the island. It's a very cruiser-friendly marina with lots of great amenities. We'd traveled with two other boats (Kendra and Jeff on Finley and Carl and Debbie on River Rat) and celebrated our arrival as well as Debbie's birthday on the terrace. Then we were off to sleep, wait out yet another windy cold front coming through and plan our trip to the Exumas, now only a mere 6 hr sail away. Thanks for following and enjoy! | |

GREAT pics! That transom shot with the blue water needs a spot on your wall at home next year. Good job dodging some nasty weather.. now you can enjoy the well deserved Exumas.
