After watching the weather for our window to start heading south again, we chose our departure date - Sun Sept 27th. There were so many place we would still have loved to visit but would have to leave for next time. Two places we couldn't pass up were the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the tour to the top of the Washington Monument. Eric got up early to wait in line for the same-day tour tickets. New friends Phil and Lucia Johnson joined us on our adventure. First stop was the Washington Monument, an elevator ride to the top - 555 feet up - afforded spectacular views of nearly all the places we'd visited the past 3 weeks. A favorite view for all of us was into Washington Channel, seeing Night Music anchored amount the other boats was a treat! (we are the dark boat furthest to the right in the picture). From there we walked to the "money factory" - we don't have a lot of pictures as they were not allowed but it was a fascinating tour. Reed's wheels were spinning as to how he could get his hands on some of it! We left on Sunday with the planes flying overhead on their way to Reagan National, the city skyline fading in the distance. On the road again! | |

Glad to see you weathered the storm in our nation's capitol. The kids are growing up right before my eyes! They look so much older. You both look wonderful -- so happy. We do miss you all, though! It's fall here; leaves are just starting to change. Looking forward to reading about more adventures!
